Prof. Benjamin Svetitsky received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1980.  After holding several research positions in the US he came to Tel Aviv University in 1988, where he has served as chairman of the Department of Nuclear Physics.  His research interests are focused on quantum field theory applied to the physics of elementary particles, particularly to models that are used to extend the Standard Model to explain particles discovered (or yet to be discovered) at the Large Hadron Collider.  The tools he uses are those of lattice gauge theory, including large-scale Monte Carlo simulations of the Euclidean path integral.  Prof. Svetitsky is a fellow of the American Physical Society.
