About

Maya Nestelbaum Guez graduated with highest distinction (summa cum laude) from the Sorbonne in Paris, specializes in Literature, History, Jewish Studies and the Holocaust.

Her publications examine the issues of Jewish identity and the Holocasut in Romain Gary's literary work. During her research in France, Dr. Guez was granted exclusive access to Romain Gary's private archive, located in Caen, which proved to be most illuminating to her work.

Starting from 2012 she is a postdoctoral fellow in Tel Aviv University, where she investigates aspects of Jewish culture in the lives of Jews during the Holocaust and after.

Research Interests

I am a literature researcher from the Sorbonne University, whose research focuses on the relation between Literature, History, Sociology and Theatre. My monographs concern Jewish identity and the Holocaust as represented via popular literature, mainly in France. I specialize in the literary work of the French Jewish author Romain Gary. Over the last several years I have focused on such literary theories and topics as intertextuality, hypertextuality, paratextuality, pastiche, European literature, theatre, genocide, Jewish identity, the Holocaust, and multi-culturalism.
