The Italia Judaica Project, directed by Professor Shlomo Simonsohn is investigating the history of Jews in the countries bordering on the Mediterranean and in Italy in particular. Under its auspices, research is carried on, the results of which are published in print and on the internet, and are discussed at international conferences dealing with the history of Italian Jewry.

Jewish Art and Visual Culture Research

The Jewish Art and Visual Culture Research project seeks to enable inter-disciplinary research on the life of Jews, through the connection of researchers from different fields. The underlying basis of this research will be visual testimony, to be investigated as any other historical document.

The Jews in Islamic Countries in the Modern Era

The goal of the project is to initiate and implement research and any other academic activity that contributes to research on the Jewish communities of the Balkans and Ladino culture. In the past year, it has been decided that this project will return to full activity, and studies in its framework will be initiated and encouraged.

This project was established in December 1987, following a donation from Mr. Avram Goldstein-Goren z”l, with the aim of initiating and promoting research on the heritage of Jews in Romania.

To date, more than twenty books have been published based on research conducted under the auspices of this project.
