מאגר מידע: יהודי בלארוס בעת החדשה

במהלך קריירת המחקר, צבר ד"ר ליאוניד סמילוביצקי אוסף גדול של חומרים ארכיונים. אוסף זה עתיד לעלות למאגר מידע חדש, אשר יהיה זמין בקטלוג "אלף" של ארכיון המרכז לחקר התפוצות. בין החומרים ניתן למצוא מסמכים סרוקים, תמונות, עיתונים ותכתובות.

יהדות בלארוס, 1953-1944

בין השנים 1944–1946, נטלה שארית הפליטה היהודית חלק פעיל בשיקום חיי הכלכלה, התרבות והמדע בבלארוס, ובתחומים מסוימים אף מילאה תפקידי מפתח. החל משנת 1946 החלה הרעה ביחס השלטונות ליהודים, אשר הגיעה לשיאה בשנים 1948–1953. היהודים הואשמו ב"לאומנות בורגנית" מצד אחד, וב"קוסמופוליטיות חסרת שורשים" מצד שני. תרבות היידיש, שעד כה הייתה הביטוי החוקי היחיד של הלאומיות היהודית, הוצאה אל מחוץ לחוק ומוסדות יהודיים נסגרו. שיאה של מתקפה זו היה בעלילת הרופאים בראשית שנת 1953. התקופה הקצרה שבין סוף מלחמת העולם השנייה לבין מותו של סטלין התבררה אפוא כתקופה של התפכחות עבור אותם יהודים שעברו את אימת השואה וציפו לשקם את החיים היהודיים הלאומיים על אדמת בלארוס.

פרויקט זה מתבסס בעיקר על חומרים ארכיונים מישראל, בלארוס ורוסיה, כמו גם קטעי עיתונות, אוספי מסמכים, נתונים סטטיסטיים, זיכרונות, ראיונות ומונוגרפיות שפורסמו על הנושא במדינות שונות. חלקים ממחקר זה פורסמו בכתבי עת אקדמיים שונים.

תכתובות ומסמכים אישיים כמקורות היסטוריים: חיילים יהודיים בבלארוס

פרויקט זה בוחן תכתובות של חיילים יהודים ששירתו בצבא הסובייטי במהלך מלחמת העולם השנייה. ד"ר סמילוביצקי אוסף ומנתח את התכתובות והמסמכים האישיים (מכתבים, יומנים, תעודות הוקרה, ציונים לשבח, מכתבי המלצה צבאיים, הודעות על נפגעים וכד'), כמו כן גם ספרי זיכרונות ותמונות, זיכרונות וסיפורים אישיים מחיילי ומפקדיי הצבא האדום, בני משפחותיהם ודמויות בולטות בתחומי התרבות והמדע, אשר פונו, בין השנים 1941–1945, לאזורים של מרכז אסיה, הרי אורל, קזחסטן, סיביר והמזרח הרחוק (365 עדויות). מטרת פרויקט זה היא לפענח את התכתובות הצבאיות, לכתוב מחקר על הממצאים, וליצור מאגר מידע מקוון לשימוש חוקרים, סטודנטים וכל מי שמתעניין במלחמת העולם השנייה. ממצאי מחקר זה יהוו בסיס ליצירת ארכיון המוקדש לתכתובות צבאיות ומקורות אישיים, פרסום אוספי מכתבים והכנת מונוגרפיה מחקרית על הנושא.
