The Mary Shapiro Kantor Neurodegenerative Research Laboratory headed by Dr. Eran Perlson is a new multi-disciplinary molecular and cellular neurobiology lab at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine in Tel Aviv University. The lab was established with the help of the Candian Friends of Tel Aviv University. 

Mary and her twin sons: Dr. Bernard Shapiro, O.C., G.O.Q., Principal Emeritus and Vice-Chancellor Emeritus, McGill University, and Dr. Harold Shapiro, President Emeritus of Princeton University.

Mary Shapiro Kantor, beloved mother, treasured grandmother of 21 and great-grandmother of 33, passed away on January 8, 2012 at the age of 103 years. Mary’s unshakeable commitment to family and community and her life-long dedication to Israel won the respect and warmth of all those whose lives she touched. She led an extraordinary life, passionately supported Israel as a volunteer and leader in Zionist organizations, was a loving parent, and a friend to many. She will always be remembered with great affection.
